The Brains Behind It – The Sequel

In recent weeks on this Blog, Facebook and Haunted Cornwall I have commented about the ‘internal nature’ of all experiences and the notion that the brain can generate the inner, real, experience of being out of the body as well as auditory and visual hallucinations.

We know that perception is an active process.

Our senses receive a range of sensory information and our brains process it. That information is given ‘meaning’ and ‘relevance’ by the various processes in the brain and we then eventually ‘make sense’ of our senses.

We make internal representations of external realities.

The idea that stimulating certain parts of the brain can, and does, produce very real internal experiences must be of interest to all those engaged in paranormal research.

To dismiss without careful consideration the findings of ‘science’ and the propositions of psychologists in favour of what you know to be ‘personally true’ can be considered as self-indulgent, closed minded and prejudicial. In fact I am finding far more ‘closed minded’ psychics, believers and spiritual folk than closed and narrow minded sceptics and scientists.

Yes and I accept I am making a broad generalisation in that observation and that perhaps the sample group upon which I am basing my observations is a biassed one.

Anyway, for all of those interested in my post about neurology and inner experience the following may be of interest.
